What a beautiful Sunday this was. After three days of Sukkot, we all got to enjoy a beautiful Sunday morning. As we enter our fifth session - the half way mark of the season - we are settling into a nice routine: - The kindergartners and first graders started as they always do, playing soccer mini games with Coach Phil from NOGA. The players learn key soccer skills, such as dribbling, kicking, protecting the ball, looking for empty space, etc., via the context of games. After the mini games are complete, the first graders split up into two groups and play two games, whereas the kindergartners play a single game.
- The second and third graders start a game right away. If we get enough players early on, we begin two separate games. When Coach Phil is completes the instruction for the kindergartners and first graders, he joins the second and third graders and provides instruction within the context of the game. This week he focused on goalie skills, spending a few minutes with each goalie instructing them on better techniques.
- The fourth and fifth graders also begin a game right away. After spending time with the younger kids, Coach Phil also provides in game instruction for the fourth and fifth graders.
NOTE: in the past, we considered moving the awards ceremony a week earlier, to November 13th - but due to a scheduling conflict, we need to keep our original date. Photographs today were taken by Alyssa Lipman and Sarah Shamash. Enjoy! |
